- Join us for a special presentation (in person or register to attend by Zoom) by Robert J. Pearce (M.A., PhD.) on "The Rice Lake Trading Post".
- Archaeologist, Dr. Robert Pearce will tell us about the history of the Rice Lake Trading Post, established in 1796 at the mouth of the Otonabee River.
- Learn about the historical and genealogical aspects of the surrounding region in the 1800's; The American Revolution; The War of 1812; The North West Company; The Mackenzie Rebellion; The families of Joseph & Lawrence Herkimer; Their nephew Captain Charles Anderson and his family; and Joseph and Rachel Harris.
- Closely tied to this story and its people is the formation and growth of the Rice Lake Reserve (Hiawatha First Nation) and Otonabee Township in Upper Canada.
